
The start of the new year 2024 is an opportunity for manufacturers to summarize their sales for 2023. BMWconsisting of brands BMW and Minirecorded the growth of its sales in 2023, p 87,788 registrations all in France, and market share of almost 5%.
“If today BMW and Mini are the favorite brands in the Premium segment with 87,788 vehicles, and BMW Motorrad is enjoying such success in France with more than 21,600 two-wheelers sold this year, it is above all because the strength of BMW Group France to focus on various solutions: four or two wheels, electric, battery hybrid, and now a test fleet of hydrogen vehicles”Vincent Salimon, Chairman of the Management Board of BMW Group France, said on this occasion.
BMW: the leader of the premium segment
In 2023, the brand BMW passed 59,601 cars in France, and becomes the leader in the premium segment with a market share of 3.4%. Sales of electrified models account for 43% of sales, or 25,661 units, including 8,666,100% electric models and 16,995 hybrids.
Last year, the brand’s most popular model was the X1, with 16,329 units registered, followed by the Series 1 (10,476 units) and the Series 2 Active Tourer (5,849 units).
From the side of two wheels, BMW Motorrad wrote down 21,615 registrations in France, up 3.28%: France is the second global market for BMW Motorrad, and it is the leading global market for the BMW CE 04 electric scooter, with 2,838 units sold in 2023, including around 40% in Ile-de-France.
Mini: record market share
In 2022 mini achieved a record market share in the premium segment and confirmed this result 28187 notes sold in 2023, equivalent to a 1.6% market share in France. France is the fourth market in the world for Mini, but also the second largest electric car sales volume.
Electric and plug-in hybrid models are popular with Mini customers, accounting for 27% and 13% of sales respectively. New upcoming models will reinforce this trend: the Mini Cooper Electric, the 100% electric Mini Countryman, as well as the Mini Aceman. The British manufacturer aims to go 100% electric from the early 2030s.
BMW Group France is the first international subsidiary of the Bavarian group: founded in 1973, it just celebrated its 50th anniversary last year.
