
Hyundai and Kia just signed an agreement with Samsungestablish a partnership around Car-to-Home and Home-to-Car services in order to create connection between living spaces and mobility solutions.
“This is an opportunity to make connected Car-to-Home and Home-Car services more practical in various areas. We plan to accelerate our technology development to continuously understand the journeys of Hyundai and Kia customers around the world.”said Hye Yong Kwon, vice president of the Hyundai and Kia infotainment system development center.
A new implementation of the IoT platform from Samsung
In other words, Hyundai and Kia customers will be able to remote control devices digital devices located at home thanks to touch and voice control in the car. It will also be possible in the other direction remotely control the functions of your carthanks to connected speakers, TVs or even smartphone apps.
To make this possible, Hyundai and Kia are integrating their connected car services into IoT platform (Internet of Things) Samsung “SmartThings”, and strive to facilitate the daily life of their customers in communication. These connected features will be offered to customers of the two Korean brands through a remote software update, even on cars already on the road.
Hyundai and Kia: interaction between car and home
Many practical use cases can be imagined: for example, you can control household appliances directly from your car, such as your air conditioning, heating, air purifier, robot vacuum or even controlling the lights or heating in your home.
Another scenarios can be imagined for everyday life, such as a mode that allows you to turn off the lights in your home and preset the air conditioning in your car, just before you leave the house. These modes can be activated on demand via touch or voice commands, or even automatically, such as with geolocation from their car to know when the user is coming home.
