A serious accident in Gorge County where two pedestrians, a man and his mother, were killed Sunday morning after being hit by two cars.

The accident happened on Sunday morning, around 8:00 a.m., in the commune of Turburea, Gorzh county.

“After the first checks carried out by the police on the spot, it became clear that a 24-year-old man from the commune of Kepreni, Gorzh county, driving a car on DC 48 Cocorova, from the direction of Bulbuceni Poiana, allegedly drove in the opposite direction, hitting 51 -year-old pedestrian (male) and a parked car. The impact threw the parked car onto a 68-year-old woman. As a result of the accident, both pedestrians were killed,” said the police of the Gorz district, quoted by News.ro.

Representatives of ISU Gorj, who arrived at the scene, said that the two pedestrians were a mother and son.

The man died on the spot, and his mother suffered a cardiac arrest. CPR was performed at the scene and the SMURD helicopter was called, but the woman could not be saved.

The driver who caused the accident was in the car with his mother. He had a driver’s license and was not intoxicated.

Based on this fact, the police opened criminal proceedings under the article “Unintentional murder”.
