Russia launched new massive airstrikes in Ukraine on Tuesday, killing at least five civilians and wounding 130 people, mostly in Kyiv and Kharkiv, Ukrainian authorities said, calling on their Western allies for more military aid.

“We must respond to the latest attack on Ukraine in a language that (Russian President Vladimir) Putin understands: by tightening sanctions so that he cannot produce new weapons with smuggled components and by providing Kiev with long-range missiles to prevent a Russian launch. sites and command centers,” Radoslav Sikorskyi wrote on the X social media platform in an English-language post.

Poland is one of Ukraine’s main supporters in Europe, despite a cooling phase between Warsaw and Kyiv in recent months due to trade disputes.

In office since mid-December as part of Poland’s new pro-European government, Sikorski made his first trip abroad to his Ukrainian ally just before Christmas to show support for Poland.

He took the opportunity and called on the European Union and the United States to “mobilize” their savings and production resources for arming Ukraine.
