The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, announced this Sunday that she will run for a new mandate and asked the parliament to organize a referendum on joining the EU, Moldpres and Radio Chisinau report, Agerpres reports.
- “Dear citizens, a few years ago we started the journey of transforming Moldova into a better country together. After three years of the mandate, we managed to keep peace at home, strengthen the country’s independence, have a government from the people and start negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union. Our future is in the European family, and it is necessary to clearly tell the whole country what path we choose for Moldova. I ask the parliament to initiate the organization of a referendum next autumn, in which the vote of the citizens will be decisive,” said Maya Sandu.
The President of the Republic of Moldova emphasized that during her mandate she undertook to complete the mission of European integration.
- “I have received the support of the member states for this course and I need your support, dear Moldovans, to succeed. We still have important steps to take and I am ready to continue, if you give me confidence, for a new mandate in 2024,” said Maja Sandu.
