“The fact that Putin’s initial plan to capture Kyiv and kill, displace or subjugate more than 40 million people failed is due to the incredible courage of Ukrainians who are determined to defend their country,” Burbok told the Potsdamer Neusten Nachrichten daily. The interview, published on Saturday, writes Agerpres.

Also, the failure of this plan of Putin happened thanks to “our support, as well as many other countries that do humanely: help the victim, and not turn a blind eye to it, which would help the aggressor,” he added. head of German diplomacy.

The current situation in the territories occupied by Russia and unprotected places in Ukraine illustrates what would happen to the whole country, as well as to neighboring states, such as the Republic of Moldova, if the European Union and the majority of the international community did not position themselves firmly on the side of Ukraine, Berbok emphasized.

“Putin is deliberately attacking power plants, power distribution centers and power lines so that water supplies freeze at minus 10 degrees Celsius and people die of thirst and cold,” she warned.

“He wants to destroy Ukraine, and that’s why we will support him as long as necessary,” Annalena Burbok assured.

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. After the Russian troops were initially able to advance to the outskirts of Kyiv, the Ukrainians managed to push them back, and now the fighting is concentrated mainly in the east of Ukraine.

Since then, Russia has illegally annexed four Ukrainian territories, and the Ukrainian counteroffensive, launched earlier this year, is gaining momentum.

Germany is one of the main supporters of Ukraine in this conflict. After the US, Berlin is the second largest supplier of military aid to Ukraine, including battle tanks, heavy artillery and air defense systems.

Germany sent new military aid to Ukraine

Germany has transferred additional military aid to Ukraine, including tank ammunition, mine clearance equipment and anti-aircraft guns, the government in Berlin said on Saturday, The Kyiv Independent reported.

Germany has consistently supported Ukraine by supplying weapons and equipment since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. Supplies are made at the expense of the German military and government contracts with private companies.

The latest delivery includes ammunition for Leopard tanks, three Gepard anti-aircraft systems and two more Wisent mine-laying tanks.

Ukraine has become one of the most mined countries in the world. In October, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that landmines threaten the lives of about six million Ukrainians.

Germany’s latest arms shipments also include reconnaissance drones, border patrol vehicles, AMPS self-defense systems for helicopters, trucks and medical equipment.
