We waited anxiously for several weeks, not to mention several months, finally the government announced on December 14, the first list of electric vehicles eligible for the environmental bonus in 2024. A list can be found in our dedicated article, and models no longer affected can be found here.
Remember that the government has decided to revise the contours of the bonus rules for 2024 to include more precise, even protectionist criteria, even if it refuses to use the term.
What does the new environmental bonus say?
This new version of the environmental bonus lies in its focus on vehicles with the best carbon footprint.
In this way, various environmental criteria are taken into account, such as the materials used, the type of battery, the energy consumption of the factory and the impact of vehicles. About 65% of electric cars sold in France are eligible for the new bonus.
Renault, the big winner of the new bonus?
But some manufacturers hit the jackpot, because on the side of Renault, 100% electric models are eligible for the environmental bonus in 2024.
So in 2024 the Twingo E-Tech, Zoé, Mégane E-Tech and Kangoo E-Tech will be subsidized, and the upcoming Renault 5 E-Tech will be too, even if it’s not yet on the government list, just as new Renault Scénic E-Tech.
Please also note that the terms of the 2023 bonus apply until December 31, 2023 for the order of these cars.
Assembled in France, in Flin, Douai or Maubege, the Zoé, Mégane E-Tech and Kangoo E-Tech meet the criteria for the new bonus, while the Twingo E-Tech, produced in Slovenia, does not escape it either. production remains more or less “local”.
