Microsoft has released a security update that, in addition to the bugs it fixes, creates problems for wireless connections used by educational institutions and small and medium-sized companies, News.ro reports.
Just a few days ago, Microsoft released the Windows 11 December 2023 Update, a mandatory security update aimed at addressing several issues with the operating system. Unfortunately, the same update with code KB5033375 causes problems for Wi-Fi connections, which can range from a slow connection due to packet loss to a complete disconnection.
Some of those affected have found that the issues created by the update are directly related to the Qualcomm QCA61x4a wireless adapter, actually the 802.11r connection used with the WPA2 Enterprise SSID.
The issue appears to be widespread, with quite a few universities and other educational institutions and companies using this configuration reporting it.
The easiest solution, at least until Microsoft issues a fix, is to uninstall the update via Windows Update.
This is not the first time that updates that Microsoft has delivered have created new problems other than the ones they were supposed to solve. A few years ago, when the company was working on Windows 10, such situations occurred even more often.
