The fifth Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopter, designed to intervene in emergency situations, arrived on Wednesday evening at the base of the Main Aviation Inspection (IGAv) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Two more such helicopters will arrive in the country, one for rescuers and the other for traffic monitoring, News.ro reports.

“Recently, the 5th Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopter, designated for the elimination of the consequences of emergency situations, landed at the base of the Main Aviation Inspection of the MAI,” IGAv representatives reported on Wednesday evening.

The official event on the occasion of the adoption of the first four such aircraft was held on November 24 at the IGAv headquarters.

“Thanks to the efforts of specialists of DSU, IHSU and IGAv, the aviation component of the MAI has been strengthened with high-performance, state-of-the-art equipment that will support citizens in providing medical services, rescue from various environments, firefighting and other emergency situations according to the highest standards,” IGAv showed.

According to the cited source, the financing of the new helicopters was provided by external grants, and in the next period the last two Black Hawk aircraft will arrive in Romania, one for rescue operations and the other to strengthen the capacity of the Romanian Police to control and regulate road traffic.
