A little over a month ago, Renault launched its “Brand International Game Plan 2027” with great fanfare live from Curitiba, Brazil. “Action plan”, which was intended to present in detail the manufacturer’s strategy on world markets. After ending operations in Russia, its second largest market after Europe at the time, a solution had to be found to regain market shares in other developing countries. We remind you Renault is represented in most countries of the world, except for North America (United States and Canada), China and some African countries. The issue of this Brazilian summit was above all clarify the future position of the group in key marketsnamely in Africa, Latin America, India, Turkey and Southwest Asia.
Cardian, the first in a long series
As “a good sketch is better than a long speech”, On this occasion, Renault presented the Kardian crossover. This is the first in a series 8 models to be deployed in B, C and D segments ! Assembled in Brazil and then in Morocco, it is the ‘affordable’ equivalent of our European Dacia Sandero Stepway. But with some differences, nevertheless. We detect it new Vasarely logo, LED signature with twin headlights and a grille studded with small diamonds.
The silhouette is similar to the known Sandero Stepway, but from the rear the design of the lights is very similar to the Renault Kiger. A small crossover based on the Kwid is available in India and South Africa in particular. Also pay attention to the length of the car, and especially his muzzle to make it look bigger ! Kardian will be installed on unique platform and reserved for emerging markets. The 8 models under consideration will be based on it, and today we know a little more about them…
New Duster, or maybe Oroch?
Renault has just confirmed that two new SUVs will be built in Brazil, except Cardian. The group plans to invest 350 million euros in its historic factory in Curitiba (it celebrates its 25th anniversary this year), increase production volumes and have the capacity to produce more models for export. Both future SUVs will be in the C segment: one that will get a hybrid engine should be more affordable version of the new Dacia Duster (sold there under the Renault brand).
The second, more secret at the moment, maybe replacing the current Duster Oroch, a double-cab pickup that has been sold there since 2015. Its prototype was the Niagara concept with a very attractive design. But nothing is less certain because Renault is talking about an SUV, not a pickup. Before we get too far ahead of this second model, let’s see what it looks like the upcoming Brazilian Renault Duster…
