David Popovich: “We are trying to take revenge in individual events”
Popovichi, Stoika-Konstantin, Gergely and Dina stopped the clock at 1:25.93 and finished seventh in the final of the 4x50m freestyle relay. Great Britain (gold), Italy (silver) and Greece (bronze) rose to the podium.
The four were pleased with their times, saying that just qualifying for the final was an achievement. David and his colleagues will try to achieve better results in individual tests.
David Popovich: “Even if I took 7th place, I had very good competitors. Currently better than us in this very short test. We are trying to take revenge in individual competitions. But the European finalists sound very good. In addition, we also improved our timing, so mission accomplished. It didn’t seem like a difficult race to me. It was short, it was quick… it went really fast and we were good together as a team. I am glad that each of us swam better than in the morning and the final time is better. So that’s all we could have asked for.”
George-Alexandru Stoyka-Konstantin: “Our goal was to improve our morning time, and it looks like we’ve succeeded.”
Mihai Gergely: “We are happy for the experience we got swimming in the European final.”
Patrick-Sebastian Dean: “In this final, we achieved our goal. We want to thank the viewers who came and made us a gallery. It was a very pleasant atmosphere.”
