The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs Romanian citizens who are transiting or intending to travel to the Czech Republic that the local Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a red snow code for the regions of South Bohemia (Blatna, Dačice, Milevsko, Pisek, Strakonice) and Highlands (Moravské Budějovice , Telč), for the period of December 2-3.

  • “There will be significant interruptions in the operation of road transport, electricity supply and the supply of consumer goods.
  • Some elements of the transport infrastructure are impassable for rail and road traffic.
  • The Czech authorities recommend that the population be prepared for possible temporary power outages in certain settlements in the regions of South Bohemia and Vysochyna, follow the authorities’ messages regarding the extension of the blocking of some roads or railways to other regions and avoid, as far as possible, trips that are not absolutely necessary.
  • In addition, the Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague is difficult to reach due to heavy snow, and the constant intervention of the authorities to clear the runway can lead to flight delays. Passengers are asked to clarify the official information published on the airlines’ websites,” the IAE reports.
