That’s it, we’re finally starting to see the end of the tunnel for Alfa Romeo! Having experienced difficulties during the Fiat-Chrysler period, the Italian brand has been experiencing difficulties in recent years, due to the acute lack of new functions. Six years after the Giulia sedan (2016) and seven years after the Stelvio SUV (2015), Alfa launched its first new product in 2022: the Tonale. This compact crossover (3008, Austral) brought a long-awaited breath of fresh air and provided the lineup with a hybrid model for the first time. The future of Alfa, as we know it, will be 100% electricand the very first model that will embody this change of direction will be a small urban crossover with the conditional code name “Brennero”.
Brennero and Stelvio, the first electric Alfa Romeos
It will share its platform, engines and most components the recent Fiat 600e and Jeep Avenger. So we can expect it to get a 54kWh battery that will allow it to do so about 400 kilometers on electricity. It should be powered by the 156bhp unit already found in its cousins, but also, later, on the 100bhp 1.2 Puretech thermoblock (to see if it will be offered here). The electric offensive will continue in 2026 with the arrival of the Stelvio replacement. The brand’s large family SUV will be based on the new STLA Large platform introduced by the Peugeot e-3008 and, if its specifications are to be believed, will increase autonomy to 700 km. Either way, we’re hoping that, being a pure Alfa product, it’ll be more powerful than the 320bhp the e-3008 has to make do with…
Large 7-seater SUV of 2028
Horizon 2028 year will see the arrival of the biggest Alfa Romeo ever sold: a large three-row family SUV which has to offer up to seven seats! It will be a cousin of the DS Aero Sport Lounge, the previous name of this concept of the future large French SUV. If so, he would restore Battery with a capacity of 110 kWh (about 620 kilometers on electricity), and an electric motor with a capacity of 680 horsepower! This model is key for a brand that must relaunch in the United Statesits second largest market in the world, where sales will be exhausted in 2022.
Finally and around these dates (also according to the specialized website Clubalfa.it), the second generation of the Tonale crossover will be presented, and only 100% electric. I know what you’re thinking: SUVs and electrics only? Anyway, that’s what’s in Alfa Romeo’s “core” program. We’re sure (we hope?) that the brand has a sedan, a coupe, even a roadster! On the other hand, there is no doubt that both will be 100% electric…
