The European Union announced on Tuesday additional aid of almost 200 million euros for the training of the Ukrainian military, increasing the total budget of this mission to 255 million euros, reports AFP.
There are already about 34,000 Ukrainian military personnel who could benefit from this training mission, said the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, at the end of a meeting in Brussels with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, reports Agerpres.
In total, the EU has already allocated 27 billion euros for military support to Ukraine, but “more and more must be done faster,” Borrell insisted.
The European Union, on the other hand, is facing many difficulties in unlocking new funding to help Ukraine in the war.
A four-year, €20 billion package proposed by Borrell is blocked by the reluctance of some European countries to pay more, as is another €50 billion aimed at boosting European support for Ukraine.
“We must continue to work hard on mobilizing European capabilities aimed at countering Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine, to destroy Europe,” Kuleba said.
