Apple CEO Tim Cook says the American tech giant, the world’s most valuable company by market capitalization, only hires people who believe that “one plus one makes three,” Business Insider reported.
Cook made the comment in a wide-ranging interview with British singer Dua Lipa, who has hosted a lifestyle and other podcast since last February.
Minutes into the interview, Cook said that everyone he works with at Apple believes that “one plus one makes three.” He also explained what he meant:
“It’s an incredible feeling to work with people who bring out the best in you, and at a fundamental level we all believe that one plus one equals three.”
“Your idea plus my idea is better than the individual ideas alone,” he continued.
In the interview, he also mentioned that Apple hires people from all walks of life, including people without higher education.
The head of Apple says that he needs people with creativity and team spirit
As for other personality traits that Apple looks for in potential employees, Tim Cook mentioned creativity and, not surprisingly, team spirit.
“I think that’s one of the traits I look for in the people I work with. Can they really cooperate? Do they deeply believe that one plus one makes three?” said the head of Apple.
With a market capitalization of nearly $3 trillion, Apple is the most valuable company in the world, followed by Microsoft, valued at approximately $2.8 trillion.
Rounding out the podium is the oil giant Saudi Aramco, which last year managed to temporarily overtake Apple and Microsoft against the backdrop of a general decline in the share prices of technology companies and a sharp rise in oil prices.
