Yannick Sinner brought Italy the Davis Cup after a high-profile match with Alex De Minaur

In the first match of the final, Matteo Arnaldi defeated Oleksii Popyrin in three sets with a score of 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.

It was Yannick Sinner’s turn to step out, and the ATP No. 4 was no match for Alex De Minaur, who he edged out at the end of the one-hour, 22-minute match.

If the Italian lost 3 games in the first set, Sinner was untouchable in the second set and won 6-0.

This is the second time in history that Italy has won the Davis Cup, following their success in 1976. Then Corrado Barazzutti, Adriano Panatta and Paolo Bertolucci were part of the team that beat Chile 4-1.

It was Italy’s 8th appearance in the Davis Cup final. He lost the final act of the competition in 1960, 1961, 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1998.
