According to a statement sent on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics, more than half of the active companies in Romania have “Market Services” as their main activity. These include transport, storage, hospitality, mail, courier, IT&C, real estate, advertising services.

The largest average number of employees was recorded in the market services sector – 38.0% of the total, INS notes.

• The average registered number of employees in 2022 compared to 2021 increased by 1.0%. Enterprises of the “Market services” branch had the largest share in terms of the average number of employees (38.0%), followed by industry (30.0%).

• The average size of an industrial enterprise was about 20 employees, while in trade it was about 5 employees.

• Compared to 2021, the total number of companies increased by approximately 3%.

• As of the end of 2022, the industrial sector includes more than 60,000 companies, i.e. 9.4% of all active companies in the economy (industry, construction, trade and market services).

• As for turnover, trade enterprises had the largest share (39.8%), and construction companies – only 7.2% of the total turnover.
