On Wednesday evening, he was asked on CNN’s Antena 3 channel about the fact that school textbooks in the Moldovan language appeared in Ukraine, despite the fact that there was an official announcement earlier after a joint meeting of the governments of Romania and Ukraine. in Kyiv since October, according to which the Moldovan language is rejected, and the Romanian language is recognized as the official language of the Romanian minority in Ukraine, reports Agerpres.

“Let’s tell the whole truth. When Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmigal came to Bucharest, we held a discussion about the Moldovan language and set it as a priority on the Romanian agenda. The Ukrainian agenda had other priorities. (…) I met with President Zelenskyi in Athens, when I had a meeting with Prime Minister Mitsotakis, with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria and with the President of the European Commission, where we had a discussion, and he told me: I you know, I – Denis said about this problem (…) I don’t have any problem, it’s not a priority for me, I understand, instead, the context, especially since the Republic of Moldova has also changed, there is no longer a Moldovan language on the territory of the Republic of Moldova , it’s only Romanian. When I left with my colleagues from the Government and had a joint meeting of the government, in the middle of the joint meeting of the government, all the Ukrainian ministers sat down at the table with us, held a meeting of the government, and by a government resolution, it was legally approved that the state language on the territory of Ukraine is Romanian. Then they started implementing it,” said Marcel Cholaku.

He also explained that Ukraine is a state at war.

“We are talking about Ukraine in a state of war. (…) Last night I was full of nerves, I fell asleep around 1:30. I also called Ukraine, as was normal. I also got the foreign policy adviser to call to find out what was going on (…). And I learned the truth. These manuals have been printed. I repeat, we are talking about a country that is at war on a certain territory. Some were modified, but Ukraine officially recognized it,” Cholaku also said.

When asked if it was possible to conclude from what was shown that it was a “logistical problem that they could not print new manuals”, the prime minister confirmed: “Normally”.

To reinforce his words, he added, referring to the decision of the Kyiv governors regarding the recognition of the Romanian language: “We have all the documents.”
