Kosovo fans demand the cancellation of the match with Israel from the preliminary round of EURO 2024

Despite the fact that the vast majority of Kosovo’s citizens are Muslim, Kosovo considers itself the most pro-American state in the world and firmly adheres to the foreign policy of its most important ally.

However, after dozens of messages criticizing Israel’s military campaign in Gaza began to spread on social networks under the hashtag #Divotivbivcyam are not welcome here (Child killers are not welcome here), the Kosovo police told local media that they had taken “increased security measures” so that the match “took place in the same way as other sporting events”, writes AFP.

Kosovo authorities have already announced that each of the 14,000 tickets on sale for Sunday’s match will be personalized and only fans who present their tickets and ID will be able to enter the Fadil Vokrri Stadium.

The Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) has admitted that it considered holding the match in an empty stadium for security reasons.

“After the meeting with UEFA, the decision was made to hold the match with spectators,” Aghim Ademi, president of FFK, told the local press.

He adds that all measures provided for by the UEFA regulations will be taken to prevent an incident after the match, writes News.ro.

Initially, the match was supposed to take place on October 15, but it was postponed.

The game between Romania and Israel will take place on October 18 in Hungary.
