Sepsy is a quick match interrupted by problems with the video refereeing system

In the 38th minute of the game at Sfantu Gheorghe, referee Ovidiu Hatcegan stopped the game and informed the captains of the two teams about the problems in the VAR room.

After a few minutes of interruption, the system was restarted and the match could be continued.

The Romanian Football Federation explained the incident and said that the problem should be avoided in the future.

“The two servers that make up the hardware used to analyze the video went down and did not respond to any commands given by the playback operator. The video feed from the broadcaster’s cameras was still being viewed on the monitors inside the VAR car, but could not be replayed due to equipment failure.

Thus, the restart operation was mandatory, which in the case of servers does not happen instantly, but takes several minutes. Thus, after approximately 3 minutes, the EVS equipment was restored and the referee was informed via the communication system that the VAR system was working again. Until the end, the system worked without problems.

The same VAR machine that was in Sfantu Gheorghe was also in Razgrad last night, during Ludogorets v Fenerbahce in the Conference League, and the system worked flawlessly.

The incident will be analyzed together with the system provider in order to identify the problem and avoid it in the future,” the FRF said on its official website.
