We know that sales of electric vehicles continue to grow worldwide, and especially in Europe. So much so that their market share in the Old Continent exceeded 20%, and models with zero emissions are sold more than diesel ones. A historic turning point for the automotive industry as demand for battery-powered vehicles increases across all markets. And some manufacturers are taking advantage of it, like Tesla, which has never done so well. The firm has already broken its record last year and is expected to sell at least 1.8 million vehicles by the end of 2023.
There is an exception to the end of sales of diesel cars in 2035, voted by the European Parliament: luxury cars (Ferrari, etc.). Of course, there are not many of them, so the emissions will be limited, but for the symbol and social justice, it will be necessary to return pic.twitter.com/6gPS9lc6ZE

Fierce competition
And this is thanks to very low prices and an attractive assortment for buyers, in particular from the new restyled Model 3. But the American company should not stop at its achievements. Indeed, it also faces increasing competition from Chinese manufacturers, and from one in particular. This is BYD, which is slowly making its way onto European soil and which intends to make a name for itself. And it seems to be working well. Indeed, in the first three quarters of 2023, the Asian manufacturer sold no less than 1,048,413 cars worldwide, which is 80% more than in 2022.
Inevitable overrun?
In the 3rd quarter no less than 431,603 cars were registered, compared to Tesla’s 435,059. Thus, the difference is minimal in favor of the American manufacturer, which would be on the verge of overtaking its Chinese competitor. However, they say that Elon Musk’s company should remain at the top of the ranking at least until the end of the year. But nothing is certain about next year, as BYD aims to overtake the Texas company, thanks, among other things, to promising new models.
