Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku said on Tuesday evening that he had found medical bills worth 6 billion lei to repay this year, although during the pandemic their value was 570 million lei. “Somewhere things got out of hand,” says Cholaku, saying there is a need for digitization in several areas, including healthcare, where “anyone can fill out prescriptions and services.”

“Everyone pays CASS now. During the PSD, there were 820 million medical records. Then there were 570 million during the pandemic. This year I found 6 billion paid sick days. 6 billion lei. I wasn’t on vacation…things got out of hand somewhere. I understand the difficult mission of the new head of the CNAS,” Marcel Ciolacu said on Tuesday evening on a Romanian TV channel, according to News.ro.

The Prime Minister spoke about the need for digitization of the health care sector.

“What do you mean when a child is born without a medical card (…), where else does this happen? Anyone can issue prescriptions and services without digitization and a very clear record. These things must stop. We need an orderly Romania,” Colacu said.
