President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims that sanctions against Russia must be strengthened. “Every Russian strike, especially one as bold as a strike on nuclear power plants and other critical facilities, is an argument that pressure on a terrorist state is insufficient,” he says.
In a message sent on Wednesday evening, Zelensky said that an assessment of damage from the explosion of Russian drones is underway in the city of Slavuta, Khmelnytskyi region, News.ro writes.
“It is very likely that the target of these drones was the Khmelnytsky NPP – the shock wave of the explosion blew out windows, including those on the territory of the NPP. So far, about 20 local residents are known to have been injured. They were given all the necessary help. The strike in the NPP area is another reminder to all our partners about how important it is to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses and how dangerous it can be when Russia can avoid international sanctions. Many of the components of the attack drones used by Russian terrorists, as well as their missiles, come from different countries, different companies, including some Western ones. The effectiveness of sanctions against Russia is literally protection against terrorism,” he emphasized.
The President of Ukraine added that the European Council at the level of heads of state and government is meeting at his place on Thursday.
“Among other topics, I will talk about exactly this: sanctions against Russia should be extended and strengthened. “Every Russian strike, especially one as bold as the one on nuclear power plants and other critical objects, is an argument for insufficient pressure on the terrorist state,” Zelenskyy said.
He noted that he had a video conference with military, intelligence and government officials.
“Among the moments worth noting is the reaction of the occupier to the new capabilities of our fighters. After our troops hit the airports in Berdyansk and Luhansk, we see that the occupiers are moving their aircraft away. More precisely, they are again trying to do this from the territory of our Crimea. This is a good sign. First the Russian fleet flees, and now the Russian air force flees. The habit of running away will be very useful for Russia. Because they will have to leave our land. No exceptions. And thank you to everyone in the world who helps us grow stronger and achieve greater goals. And I thank our fighters for their accuracy,” explained Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
He noted that work is underway at the diplomatic level regarding a meeting on the Peace Formula.
“It is very important that in the relevant negotiations we see unwavering attention to Ukraine and the need to end this war – to end it justly and correctly,” the Ukrainian president also noted.
Speaking about the supply of ammunition, Zelensky noted that the key element is additional power for Ukraine, the state and the people every day.
At night, Russian drones attacked the city of Slavuta, Khmelnytskyi region. We shot them down, but their shrapnel knocked out windows, doors, and roofs. Two dozen residents were injured. They were given the necessary assistance.
