Second seed in Basel, Norwegian Casper Ruud (8 ATP) defeated Bublyk (30 ATP) in two sets with a score of 7-6(5), 6-2.

The first set was played on counterattacks and went to a tie-break, where the Kazakhstani player ended up losing 6-7.
