As stated in the preamble, these two new features will not be available in Europe. They directly correspond to the strategic plan of the brand under the name “Renovation”. More precisely, they will lie at the heart of a more global goal, viz development from Renault to international.

Remember, we already told you about it Cardian on Auto Plus by releasing teaser images of the brand’s small urban SUV. And even then we clarified that the latter will not be available in Europe. Actually, it was originally intended for the market south american.

This compact SUV has only dimensions 4.12 m long, 1.75 m wide and 1.54 m high. However, its small size does not prevent it from adopting the style of an adventurer with its raised position, its roof rails and protection around the wheel arches.
On the engine side, the Kardian has a small engine 3 cylinders turbocharging that develops 125 hp AND 220 Nm of torque. The latter will be accompanied by an EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Inside this Kardian, Renault decided to decorate it with a whole bunch of equipment. In particular, we find a digital dashboard seven inches which is accompanied by a multimedia screen eight inches clearly compatible with Apple CarPlay AND Android Autoelectric parking brake and 13 different driver aids.
Bruno Vanel, director of product performance for the Renault brand, says:
We find all the DNA and know-how of the Renault brand in this new Kardian: new design, innovative technology in the segment, useful, well thought out and bringing great value to our customers. This clearly strengthens and modernizes our range in the B segment in Latin America and in other countries such as Morocco.
At the time of launch, this compact SUV will be produced at the Renault plant in Curitiba on brazil, but also to Casablanca on Morocco.
Concept Renault Niagara
In view of the development of events in Europe, in particular with various fines and weight penaltyit’s clear that this pickup truck concept called Niagara is not not at all suitable for the European market. Like Kardian, this Niagara concept is at the heart of the diamond brand’s international expansion strategy. For this, he uses the same recipe as his younger brother.

He opens a new modular platform. The latter, however, is much bigger than that which serves as the foundation of Cardian. To illustrate its point, Renault provides us with certain characteristics of the models that may appear on this platform:
- The length of the car is from 4 to 5 meters
- Wheel base with four possible sizes from 2.60 m to 3 m
- New powertrains: thermal, flexible fuel (E85), LPG, mild hybrid, extended 48V, full hybrid, and all available in traction or all-wheel drive.
Renault talks about the platform super flexible which will allow us to offer our customers very different bodies and silhouettes. That’s why Renault presents us with this concept. A brand gives us a taste models that can be based on this platform.
This Renault Niagara concept accepts all codes of the world pickup and All Terrain. In particular, it has ground clearance increased, long-travel suspensions that promise significant intersection angles. If Renault announces that this new platform can accommodate many different powertrains, the lion brand has chosen the engine for its Niagara E-TECH Hybrid 4×4.
