Speeding is a real scourge on the roads. Of course, we are not talking about small overperformances, which are often the result of a moment of inattention and for which soon points will no longer be deducted. Of course, these are serious excesses that endanger the driver and other road users. However, the latter are very common, and especially after the end of the first restriction, as noted by Road Safety. Of course, radars are used to combat this phenomenon, but this is still not enough.

A simple solution
But then, how can we fight excessive speed when we are a small city and we don’t necessarily have the means to install radars? The mayor of Ploudren is well located in Morbihan found a solution. First of all, he decided to limit the entire municipality to 30 km/h, regardless of the street. But this is still not enough, despite the installation of signs to warn motorists. But the municipality has more than one trick up its sleeve and found another very smart solution.
New rules
Indeed, according to Jean-Marc Denis, Assistant Professor of Urban Planning, “ almost a quarter of the vehicles driving in the city break the speed limit“. To combat this, the city hall decided to turn all city intersections into priority right, forcing motorists to reduce speed. It remains to be seen if this will work in the long run or if we will have to look for other courses of action!
