Development Minister Adrian Vestea announced on Thursday evening that the main priority of his mandate is the consolidation of buildings at seismic risk, as only 26 buildings have been consolidated in the last 30 years, 19 of which are in Bucharest. The minister says that there is money, there is a vision, but also the participation of local authorities is needed, News.ro reports.
“The consolidation of buildings with seismic risk remains the top priority of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration and my mandate, because the development of the country cannot be done only by responding to crisis situations or sporadic stimuli or investing only when something surprises or scares us,” – wrote the Minister of Development on Facebook on Thursday evening.
Adrian Vestea argues that in conditions where only 26 buildings have been strengthened by public funds in the last 30 years, of which 19 are in the capital, a paradigm shift in the approach to the situation of buildings with seismic risk was necessary.
“This change has happened: we have the vision, we have the money, we have the legislation, but we also need the involvement of all local authorities, because reducing seismic risk in both public buildings and apartment buildings is a shared responsibility, and the proposed measures to appeal both to citizens and to the authorities,” the minister added.
He talks about the National Program for the Consolidation of Buildings with High Seismic Risk, for which he recently signed 3 financial contracts for the total amount of 124,050,098.37 lei aimed at the consolidation of the Calotesti High School in Budeasa Municipality (Arges County), an administrative palace in Dambovitsa County. and Voivodul Mircha Higher School in Tirgovishte.
