President Joe Biden will ask the US Congress for a joint package of 100 billion dollars for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and the migrant crisis on the US-Mexico border, an anonymous source told AFP on Tuesday, Agerpres noted.

The request, which has not yet been released by the White House, comes as Congress remains paralyzed by the absence of a House Speaker following the October 3 impeachment of Kevin McCarthy.

The $100 billion package, first reported by Bloomberg, aims to unite Democrats, who have been calling for more aid to Kiev for weeks, and Republicans, who especially want funds to deal with the migrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the US Congress in September to convince the US to help him get to the “finish line” ahead of Russia. But since then, the US has been under pressure to support its historic ally Israel, which is fighting Hamas.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said Tuesday that he is considering a major aid package for Israel.

It would contain “military, diplomatic, humanitarian and intelligence assistance – everything that Israel needs,” he said, adding that he hoped it would be adopted “in the next few weeks.”

The US Senate is also scheduled to consider a resolution condemning Hamas and debate the confirmation of a new ambassador to Israel on Wednesday.
