“At the moment, if someone wants to fly from Constanta to Timisoara, they have to stop in Rome or Milan, because there is no direct flight between the two Romanian cities. Basically we are talking about a big waste of time and money. The new air carrier proposed by CCIR will operate a significant number of small-capacity aircraft between the most important cities in the country,” said CCIR President Mr. Mihai Daraban.
Mr. Sherban Todoricha-Konstantin, the chairman of the Brasov County Council present at the meeting, emphasized that “not only businessmen will benefit from this new project. For example, there are surgeons specializing in various fields who need to travel from one city to another for certain special medical procedures. In addition, there may be medical emergencies that are better handled in different cities in Romania. Last but not least, we should also think about tourism, such a company can give a serious boost to this economic sphere.”
According to INS data, in the first 6 months there were 9 passengers on domestic routes at Tulcea Airport, Arad had 23 domestic passengers (in 6 months) and Craiova saw about 100 passengers in 6 months
