Google’s voice assistant, which is used by hundreds of millions of people every day, will become “smarter” after combining with generative artificial intelligence chatbot Bard. This will mean that users will be able to ask much more complex questions than “how’s the weather” or “set the alarm for 6pm?”.
Google’s voice assistant “wakes up” with the well-known command “Ok Google!” a lot of people use it, but it hasn’t gotten much better in recent years. He hasn’t made much progress and his responses are sometimes annoyingly weak.
But in a few months, there will be a change that will make Google Assistant much better, become conversational and answer questions related to e-mail, for example.
The change will come because the Bard chatbot, which also launched in Romanian a few months ago, will be integrated into Google’s voice assistant, so users will be able to ask more complex questions.
Google has begun integrating Bard with its other apps — Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, and YouTube — and when Bard is fully integrated with the voice assistant, people will be able to search for specific emails using their voice in Gmail.
The answers should be much more complex than what Assistant currently provides, but there is a risk that Bard will give the wrong answer, so Google needs to find a balance.
The Bard integration will undoubtedly be one of the biggest update “leaps” in the history of Google Assistant, and these new options will initially be available to a smaller number of users, and not only in English.
