Formula 1 could become the next major sporting event to be broadcast on Apple TV+ after MLS, with the American giant ready to invest around two billion dollars a year.
Apple is ready to pay two billion dollars for the exclusive rights to broadcast Formula 1
Apple will be willing to pay two billion dollars a year to acquire exclusive rights to broadcast Formula 1, according to sources quoted by Business F1 magazine.
A possible future offer from Apple would bring F1 roughly double the money it currently receives for global distribution rights.
Even if a deal in this sense is concluded, Apple will have to wait several years until the current contracts expire and it will receive exclusive rights.
Because of this, the company would like to enter into a contract in which the amount paid and the availability would increase gradually and simultaneously in the following years.
Apple’s appetite for sports has grown since the sale of the MLS Season Pass. A similar subscription to Formula 1 will be available separately as part of the Apple TV+ service through the Apple TV program, News.ro reports.
