UEFA has decided to return the Russian national team under 17 years to the European Cup

From February 2022, UEFA has decided that club and national teams will no longer participate in the European competitions it organizes.

The decision was made because of Russia’s war in Ukraine, but more than a year later, better feelings for Russian teams returned at the continental forum.

In particular, UEFA, through its president Oleksandr Ceferin, announced that some Russian teams will return to the European Cups, in particular those with under-17 players.

At the same time, UEFA will prohibit these teams from flying the Russian flag, singing the national anthem and wearing the usual team uniform.

“The suspension that UEFA has imposed on teams in Russia reflects an attempt to deal with violence and aggression. UEFA is determined to maintain this position until the end of the war, when peace is restored.

However, banning children from our competitions means not only that we do not recognize their fundamental right to development, but also directly discriminate against them.

By giving them the opportunity to play against footballers of the same age from across Europe, we are investing in what we hope will be a brighter and more capable generation.” President Alexander Ceferin told tuttomercatoweb.com.
