The city of Lviv in western Ukraine was rocked by explosions early Tuesday, with local officials saying air defense systems were deployed to repel a Russian airstrike, Reuters reported.
Both the mayor of the city, Andriy Sadovy, and the governor of the region, Maksym Kozytskyi, urged people to stay in shelters, as new attacks are expected.
Starting at 01:30, several waves of drones were heard outside Greenwich, reports AFP. “There is air defense in our region,” and other drones are “flying in our direction,” Mayor Sadovoy wrote in Telegram.
“Explosions are heard. After the attack on the city of Lviv, there was a fire at an industrial warehouse,” he added later also in Telegram.
“The threat of Shahed (drones) remains in Lviv region. Air defense is working,” the Air Force of Ukraine explained on the same channel.
Around 00:00 GMT, the western half of Ukraine is under threat of an air raid, Reuters notes.
