An IMF team led by Mr Jan Kis Martin will visit Bucharest from 25 September to 4 October 2023 for consultations based on Article IV of the Fund’s Statute, the institution’s representatives announced on Monday.
“Such consultations are periodically held with all member states of the IMF,” the message reads.
The IMF team will discuss economic developments and policies with the Romanian authorities, meet with officials from the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Romania and other government institutions, as well as representatives of the private sector and non-governmental organizations.
At the end of the visit, the mission could hold a press conference. As usual, when everything is going well, the conference will take place, but if there are disputes, the Foundation’s mission ends with a press release, without press conferences.
