In general, it will be in general two autonomous shuttles which will be released on our roads by the concession company Vinci and three other partners. Scheduled for 2026, these two shuttles will transport passengers between the two cities Longvillier in Evelyn and Massey to Esson through St Brie-sous-Forges. It is obvious that this journey will take place without anyone behind the wheel. The first in the world !

First test on A10

The transfer will take A10 from the first half of 2026. Project, no MOB-AUTO² (MOBility AUTOmatized on AUTOconnecting road) required the creation of a consortium of four partners, including:

Vinci Highway, the motorway concession company that operates the A10. There is also society Milla Group who will build autonomous shuttles and oversee maintenance. THE SAVAC group, a transport company that will carry out route transportation. And finally, we also find the university Gustave Eiffel which will collect certain data to assess the impact of the automated mobility system and its contribution to the common good.

Tests in real conditions

There will be three years of experimentation before this new service goes live. The shuttle will then be tested while traveling at speed 90 km/h on the highway Then it will be able to contain to 15 seats and will be able to carry out 30 trips per dayi.e. total capacity 450 passengers daily.

Two shuttles will have to travel along the route 28 km in general. Although they are released under conditions of full autonomy, an external system of supervision and intervention will be introduced. During the journey, some of the infrastructure will be connected to be able to assist the shuttles at sensitive points in the journey, such as duties, inserts, access to bus routes, as well as works.

As you probably guessed, this project is another solution for decarbonize mobility. In particular, this project is aimed at combating self driving, a term that refers to the fact of borrowing your personal car without taking passengers with you. A phenomenon that Vinci Autoroutes says is getting worse over time. The level of individual use on highways has reached 84.7% according to the February 2023 Vinci Autoroutes Driverless Barometer.
