The explanatory note of the European Commission states that Russians are temporarily prohibited from entering the EU with certain vehicles or personal belongings. In the appendix to the list of sanctions introduced due to the war in Ukraine, it is stated that these measures are aimed at further preventing the export of “dual-use” components to Russia.

These are goods that can be used both in Russian consumer goods and in the military industry, perhaps the most famous example of this is electronic components. Some of them can be used both for the production of household appliances and for electronic systems that are used on various equipment and combat vehicles of the Russian army.

However, in addition to mobile phones, some personal items such as cosmetics, toothpaste, deodorants and toilet paper were also banned from entering the EU for Russians.

“It’s just racism,” Maria Zakharova, press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said about the situation.

“This is racism in its purest and simplest form,” she said.

Medvedev said that Russia should end relations with the EU

In turn, the former president and prime minister of Russia, Dmytro Medvedev, said that the EU simply “spat” in front of all Russians, adding that the humanitarian bloc treats them as “bitches with bad heredity.”

“What should we do? Of course, do not introduce restrictions in return for EU citizens, we are not racist,” he added.

“It would be better to simply suspend diplomatic relations with the EU for a while,” Dmytro Medvedev suggested.

The European Union introduced its latest package of sanctions against Russia on June 11, 23, with the aim of strengthening the ability to prevent circumvention of already existing sanctions, both for Russia and for Western companies that ignore them.

Moscow accused the West and its partners, who joined the sanctions against Russia, of “Russophobia” in a European manner, there are also voices calling for it to be criminalized in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
