>> VIDEO Germany to host EURO 2024 but lose match after match – Hansi Flick humiliated by Japan

Hansi Flick is no longer the coach of the German national team – Rudi Waller is the acting coach

Rudy Waller, who also coached the national team in the period 2000-2004, will be the temporary selector, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports.

Germany recorded four defeats and a draw in the last five games, and the humiliation with Japan (1-4) was fatal for Hansi Flick (the Panzers were also eliminated in the group stage at the 2022 World Cup).

Germany will play four friendlies this year: against France (September 12), USA (October 14), Mexico (October 18) and Austria (November 21).

Hansi Flick is “the weakest coach in history”, writes the German press

The favorites to replace Flick are Julian Nagelsmann (out of contract after leaving Bayern Munich) and Oliver Glasner (former Eintracht coach), writes Sport Bild, who called for Hansi’s sack after the defeat against Japan.

“Just four wins in the last 17 games and an ignominious exit from the World Cup groups in Qatar. Hansi Flick is the worst selector in history. Therefore, nine months after the opening game at the Euro, there is no alternative to his immediate release. Enough, Mr. Flick!

How did we get to the point where we are happy to lose only 1-4 at home to Japan? Flick has screwed things up this year, none of his ideas have made an impact on the field. The players lost their security and confidence with him.

The relationship between the selectors and the dressing room is poor and it shows, causing such awkward moments. One thing is clear. That 1-4 against Japan was probably Hansi Flick’s last international game” – Matthias Bruegelmanndirector of Sport Bild.
