According to the cafe where the class was held, the person who alerted the police thought the yogis were the victims of an armed attack and so alerted the police, who quickly arrived in large numbers.

“If you heard a lot of police sirens in the chapel of St. Leonards at 9.30pm last night, no worries,” Seascape Cafe said on its Facebook page.

The police “were on their way to the observatory, a person reported a murder in our house after seeing several people lying on the ground. (…) It was actually a yoga session.”

“Dear audience, know that there are many evening yoga classes at the Observatory. We’re not part of any crazy cults or crazy clubs.”

Police confirmed the call came in at 8:56 p.m. “Police officers arrived at the scene. We are happy to report that everyone is safe and well,” a police spokesman said.

The cafe where the course was held, located in the North Sea Observatory at St Leonards Chapel in the North East of England, is a seemingly quiet place with stunning sea views.
