
Klaus Iohannis will hold a press conference together with Polish Presidents Andrzej Duda, Lithuanian Gitanas Nauseda and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic at the end of the Three Seas Initiative (I3M) Summit organized on Wednesday in Bucharest. At the opening of the summit, where Volodymyr Zelensky also had a video intervention, Iohannis reacted after the Ministry of Defense confirmed today that fragments of a drone had been found in Romania.

Romania will host the new Summit of the Three Seas Initiative (I3M) in Kotrocen on Wednesday, during which Greece will become the 13th participating country of this political platform, and Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova will receive the status of associated participating states.

At the opening of the Summit of the Three Seas Initiative (I3M), which gathers the heads of state and government of 12 countries, Klaus Iohannis spoke about the discovery of fragments of drones in Tulcea County. It was the first reaction after Defense Minister Ángel Tilvar confirmed earlier in the day that fragments of a drone had been found in the commune of Čatalkioi.
- “If it is confirmed that these elements come from a Russian drone, such a situation will be absolutely unacceptable and a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Romania, a NATO ally.
- As I mentioned earlier, these attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which are war crimes, are taking place a very short distance from the Romanian border. However, we are ready and in constant contact with other NATO allies,” said Iohannis.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke via video conference at the summit, reacting to the recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports on the Danube. Zelenskyi also made a harsh statement about restrictions on grain transit in some EU countries.
