Defense Minister Angel Tylvar confirmed that the wreckage of a Russian drone fell on the territory of our country, Antena 3 CNN reports. President Klaus Iohannis said a day ago that “no drone or any other part of any device” had reached Romania after Monday’s Russian attack on Ukrainian ports on the Danube. Analysts of the GeoConfirmed company, which geolocates images related to the war in Ukraine, said on Tuesday evening that a Russian drone fell on the territory of our country on Monday, confirming Ukraine’s information, while Romanian officials categorically denied it.
Several parts of the Russian drone, which was used in the attack from Sunday night to Monday, were found on the territory of Romania, in the area of the village of Plauru in the county of Tulcea.
The defense minister arrived in Plaura, Tulcea county on Wednesday to check if there were any signs that the unmanned vehicle had arrived in the country.
“It was clear that there was a series of attacks in a fairly short period of time, so I consider it important to increase vigilance measures. We will have more observation points,” Angel Tilvar, Romania’s national defense minister, told CNN’s Antena 3.
When asked whether the wreckage of the drone was found, the minister confirmed.
“Yes, in this area, because we covered a very large area, including the area that was discussed in the public space, and I confirm that pieces of this drone were found in this area,” Angel Tilvar said.
Fragments have been removed and will be investigated.
