Romania will play Israel and Kosovo in qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship

Romania have a good chance of returning to the European Championship after an eight-year absence, and coach Edi Iordenescu told a press conference that he is very confident that the tricolors can get two wins in the double with Israel and Kosovo.

Among the players called up by Iordanescu to the first team is also Daniel Birlighea, a player from CFR Cluj who was called up to the first team for the first time.

The striker of CFR Cluj said that he was surprised by the call-up to the tricolor, but emphasized that he is also very motivated to give his all.

“Of course, I will give everything I can for the national team to respect this shirt and have good results. It was a difficult step (not making the transition from the U21 team to the senior team), but now I’m here and I want to give it my all.

It is a great honor, great happiness and a real dream to get to the national team. I hope to continue here from now on. In my debut, I want to help the team with a goal, an assist, bring 3 points and let us all be happy.

This is the main goal of everyone (not to enter the EURO). For us and also for the whole nation, I think it would be a very good moment (not to qualify).

I finished my training (not at CFR Cluj) and I got a message from Christy Dragote (Cluj’s physical trainer) telling me to pack my bag. The summons was unexpected, but I packed my suitcase.

I called my mother and told her that I would not go home again. He understood what it was about.

The first time I called my mom was because she was always there, and I want to thank her for that. I got messages from friends, from all the family. They were very happy and encouraged me to do my best when I’m here.” – said Daniel Birlighea, reports FRF TV.
