After updating its Toyota Crown sedan, the Japanese firm is about to bring to the fore an all-new version of the Toyota Century.
Toyota actually produced the first one teaser photo of his future model, which we find in the dark, with the date of the world premiere: the September 6, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. (Japanese time, which is 6:30 a.m. in France). The revelation, which will be revealed live and then replayed from that date, in the video below:
Toyota Century: a high-end SUV?
In this first teaser photo, we see the left side of the car with a white-gloved hand about to open the rear door: a model really aimed at a high-end clientele that usually travels with a driver. . It’s hard to know more at the moment, but the lines of the future model seem imposing, with chrome inserts marked by the wheel arches and strong plastic guards integrated at the bottom of the doors. At the same time, we detect the light signature of the stick-shaped LED rear lights.
According to the latest rumours, this upcoming variation of the Toyota Century should take the form of a high class SUV, as well as its competitor Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Indeed, in June 2023, on the occasion of the presentation of the Toyota Alphard and Vellfire, the Japanese firm announced the expansion of the Century range, without saying more.
Plug-in hybrid engine and marketing in Europe?
According to a brand representative, the Toyota Century lineup will soon expand this year with a new offering that promises to be impressive. The new model must accept TNGA-K platformwhich equips Toyota Camry, Highlander, Alphard and Vellfire or even Lexus LM, and offers the best comfort, luxury and technology.
While the current Toyota Century is powered by a V8 gasoline engine, and its previous generation even had a luxurious V12, this hypothetical Century SUV should offer gasoline plug-in hybrid engine, to better match the electrification strategy of the Japanese parent company.
