Simona Halep is awaiting a verdict in the doping case in which she is involved, and in recent days the Romanian press wrote that the former WTA leader will have a relationship with Joao Monteiro (former holder of the 237th place in the ATP).

Simona Halep denies the relationship with Joao Monteiro

A year after her divorce from Tony Yuruk, Simona denied the rumors and said that the Portuguese is just her training partner.

“I kept reading fabricated articles about my relationship with Joao. He is my training partner and nothing more. Thank you” – Simona Halep on Instagram.

João Monteiro works at the Muratoglu Academy and was recently present at the festival in Mamaia.

At the age of 29, the Portuguese was the highest in the ATP rankings at 237 (Nov 2017) and his last match was at the Challengers tournament in Maia, Portugal (Nov 2020).

Know:

  • The news that Simona Halep was temporarily suspended for doping appeared on Friday, October 21, 2022.
  • Halep is temporarily suspended from tennis after testing positive for Roxadustat (conducted during the 2022 US Open). Later, Simona was also accused of “violations” in the biological sports passport.
  • Simona’s case is now being heard by Sport Resolutions, an independent court in London that hears doping cases in white sport.
  • However, if innocence cannot be proven, Simone has one more appeal: the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
  • It will be recalled that the maximum suspension that Halep could receive is 4 years.
