Max Verstappen has won 11 of 13 Grands Prix this F1 season and the level shown by the RedBull driver is incredible. Fernando Alonso (two-time world champion and one of Max’s most experienced rivals) talks about the Dutchman’s secret.
Fernando Alonso says Max Verstappen is realizing his potential much faster than his F1 rivals
Having won on his “home” track in Zandvoort, Verstappen equaled the record of Sebastian Vettel, which dates back to 2013: we are talking about nine victories in a row.
Verstappen has a chance to overtake the multiple world champion in Monza this weekend.
Second in the Dutch race, Fernando Alonso (42 years old) explained what Verstappen’s big secret is this season.
Of course, the Dutchman has the best single-seater on the grid, but Alonso praises his much younger rival (25 years old).
The Iberian says Verstappen is currently the only driver in the Grand Circus who manages to reach his maximum potential in so many moments. This is precisely the difference between Max and the rest of the Formula 1 drivers.
“To win in such a decisive manner in any professional sport is very difficult.
On days like today (without Sunday), I felt at my best and gave 100% of what I felt and my abilities in the race car,” says Fernando Alonso.
“Perhaps in Spa we were not at the same level as in Austria. Therefore, you always feel that there is room for improvement and you are not 100% satisfied with yourself.
I think Max reaches that 100% (potentially not) more often than we do at the moment, that’s why he dominates in the way he does,” adds Alonso.
