Health Minister Alexandru Rafila announced that 12 patients with serious burns as a result of explosions in Crevedia have been or will be transferred to hospitals abroad. Some of those hospitalized have burns on 90% of their body surface. Two Romanian Air Force C-27 J Spartans transported patients to Vienna, Graz and Lübeck.

“There are still serious problems, there are patients in intensive care, one of them will be transferred during this day, but we are optimistic. All the firefighters with whom I managed to talk were in a good mood and aware that they had fulfilled their duty,” said Oleksandru Rafila on Sunday evening after a visit to the capital’s Floreaska hospital. reports News .ro.

The Minister of Health expressed hope that there will be no more deaths.

“Let’s hope we don’t have any more deaths. There are also patients with poor health, as the burns covered more than 90% of the body surface. This is a situation where only a miracle, many times, can lead to healing. (…) There are 20 patients in Floreaska, one of them has to be transferred,” said Rafila.

Alexandru Rafila reported that 12 patients were or will be transferred abroad.

“A total of 12 patients were or will be transferred to hospitals from other countries – they were in Belgium, Italy, then Austria, Germany and Norway. Transfers can also be made at night. There is a plane that will make several stops, but we are also waiting for a plane from the Swiss Federation to transport to Norway,” concluded the Minister of Health.

  • “The C-27 J Spartan military aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, configured to perform medical missions, took off on Sunday, August 27, from Air Transport Base 90 in Otopeni at 4:00 p.m. on the route Otopeni-Vienna-Graz-Otopeni, respectively at 7:00 p.m. on the Otopeni-Lyubek-Otopeni route,” the Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday evening.
  • According to MApN, the missions are carried out at the request of the head of the Department of Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat. The medical teams that monitor the patients during the flights are made up of specialists from UPU-SMURD Bucharest and Floreasca Emergency Clinical Hospital in the capital.

It will be recalled that four patients who received burns as a result of explosions in Crevedia were transferred on Sunday morning to hospitals abroad – two in Milan, Italy, and two more in Brussels, Belgium.

Another patient in critical condition is to be flown to Norway this evening.

The explosions at the liquefied gas station in Krevedia caused 2 deaths and 56 injuries, most of the victims were among the intervention forces. Several people are in critical condition, and authorities have begun transferring the wounded abroad through the EU’s Civil Protection Mechanism. Out of the total number of victims, 43 people are employees of the Police Department (39 firefighters, 2 policemen and 2 gendarmes). The population of the area affected by two powerful explosions on Saturday in Krevedia was evacuated.
