
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in Athens on an official visit on Monday, the office of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, adding that he will take part in an informal dinner with European and Balkan leaders, AFP reports.
Zelensky, who visited Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark this weekend, continues his surprise European tour in a country that has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion. Athens provided Kyiv with humanitarian aid, as well as weapons, including infantry fighting vehicles, Kalashnikov assault rifles, launchers and ammunition.
In an interview with Digi24 on Friday, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shigal said that the Ukrainian president will meet with the Prime Minister of Romania in the near future and, most likely, will visit Bucharest.
According to the government’s announcement, Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku is participating on Monday in Athens in a working meeting of the heads of state and government of Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans, organized by the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, writes News.ro. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, as well as the heads of state and government of Southeast Europe and the Western Balkans will also take part in the meeting.
