Last week, the Italian Football Federation announced the departure of Roberto Mancini, the same man with whom the Squadra Azzurri won the European Championship against England.

Despite winning the championship with Napoli, Luciano Spalletti has stepped down as head coach of the Italian champions, telling management he needs a break.

On Friday, Luciano Spalletti was officially announced as the new coach of the Italian national football team.

The 64-year-old technician signed a contract until the summer of 2026.

For Spalletti, this is the first in his career. Until he became an Italian coach, Luciano Spalletti managed only club teams.

He has also coached Empoli, Sampdoria, Venezia, Udinese, Ancona, Roma, Zenit and Inter in the past.
