Having recently returned to the WTA, Caroline Wozniacki was knocked out in the first round in Cincinnati after a straight sets loss to Varvara Grachova 6-4, 6-4.

Caroline announced her retirement from tennis in January 2020, but later changed her mind after the birth of her second child.

WTA Cincinnati wild card holder Caroline Wozniacki (632 WTA) was defeated in the first round of the tournament.

The ex-world leader lost the match against Varvara Grachova (45 WTA), at the end of the match, which lasted one hour and 36 minutes.

Despite her efforts to hold on, the Dane lost both sets 6-4.

In the next round, Varvara Grachova will meet Daria Kasatkina (14 WTA).
