The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs Romanian citizens who are in transit or intend to move to the Kingdom of Sweden that local authorities have issued extreme weather codes from August 9 to 11 in several regions.

The caveats are:

  • code red for heavy downpours in the Halland region and parts of the western Kronoberg region, with possible flooding along rivers that could affect roads, railways, towns and coastal areas, until 23:00 on 9 Aug 59;
  • orange flood code in Testeboan Nature Reserve, Havleborg region and along the Hoe, Norsalveen and Aros rivers in the Värmland region, from 00:00 on 9 August until further notice;
  • flood code orange for Lake Siljan and the lower reaches of the Asterdalalven River in the Dalarna region, until further notice.

Citizens of Romania can request consular assistance at the telephone numbers of the Embassy of Romania in Stockholm: +468205674, +468209927, +4684113181, calls are forwarded to the Center for Contact and Support of Romanian Citizens Abroad and are answered by operators on a permanent basis.

In addition, Romanian citizens who find themselves in a difficult, special situation of an extraordinary nature have at their disposal the permanent telephone number of the diplomatic representation of Romania in the Kingdom of Sweden: +46736985463.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Romanian citizens traveling abroad to familiarize themselves with the websites www.yr.no, www.varsom.no, www.meteoalarm.org, stockholm.mae.ro, www.mae.ro and reminds them, that they have at their disposal the “Travel Safe” app, which provides travel information and advice.
