Ana Bohdan (WTA 49) easily qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Iasi, beating Switzerland’s Simona Waltert (WTA 131) in straight sets 6-0, 6-4.

Second favorite and reigning champion of the tournament from Iasi, Ana played a perfect first set in which her game was excellent and her opponent was unable to cause her any problems.

And the second set could have been decided much faster, after the Romanian took a 5-2 lead, but despite the efforts of Simona Waltert, who came back to 5-4, Ani Bohdan managed to qualify for the semifinals.

  • In the semifinals, Ana Bohdan will play Raluka Sherban (166 WTA), who was born in Romania, but since 2019 has been playing for the colors of Cyprus.
  • Qualification for the semifinals is rewarded with 4,770 euros and 57 points in the WTA singles ranking.

The BCR Iași Open runs from July 17 to 23 on clay, is part of the WTA 125 category, has a total prize pool of $115,000, and started with 32 players in the main draw. The titular champion (from the 2022 class) is Ana Bohdan.
